Petitioner is directed to serve a copy of the revisional application upon Mr. Begg, learned Advocate who ordinarily appears on behalf of the State. His appointment may be regularized by the concerned Authorities in due course.

Learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was arrested on 10th of March, 2022 and since then he is in custody for about 18 months. Learned Advocate submits that charge-sheet has already been submitted and the prosecution has relied upon eight witnesses in the initial charge-sheet and additional witnesses in the supplementary charge-sheet. Records of the revisional application reflects that dates were fixed for framing of charge.

Having regard to the fact that the petitioner is in custody for more than 18 months, I direct the learned Trial Court to conclude the stage of consideration of charges either on the next date fixed or within a fortnight thereafter. The learned Trial Court would thereafter fix a schedule consisting of three dates and fix a schedule once in every 60 dates so that the trial of the case can be taken to

its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. In case any of the witnesses do not appear the learned Trial Court would direct the S.P. of the concerned District who would take steps for ensuring appearance of the witnesses concerned. No unnecessary adjournments be granted to any of the parties. The Public Prosecutor conducting the case would produce the materials, documents and exhibits on the dates fixed for examination of the witnesses. All stakeholders would cooperate with the learned Trial Court to conclude the trial at the earliest.

With the aforesaid observations, the present revisional application being CRR 3449 of 2023 is disposed of. Pending applications, if any, are consequently disposed of. All concerned parties are to act in terms of a copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
