Affidavit-of-service filed by the petitioners is taken on record. The learned Advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that the private respondents have been duly served.

Despite service, none appears for the private respondents.

The petitioners allege that no steps have been taken by the police authorities in spite of the fact that complaint has been lodged by the petitioner with the Officer-in-Charge of Daspur Police Station dated August 8, 2024.

Mr. Ganguly, learned Advocate appearing for the State.

Since the petitioners lodged a complaint, it is the duty of the police authorities to take steps in accordance with law. If the complaint discloses the cognizable offence, the Officer-in-Charge

shall take steps in accordance with law including registration of an FIR. If the said respondent decides against the registration of FIR, the reasons have to be communicated to the petitioners within three weeks' from the receipt of a server copy of this order.

With the above observations and directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
