The petitioner alleges that no steps have been taken by the police authority in spite of the fact that the petitioner lodged a complaint on August 14, 2024 before the Officer-in-Charge of local Police Station. Since a complaint has been lodged, it is the duty of the police authority to take steps in accordance with law.

If the complaint discloses a cognizable offence the Officer-in-Charge Tarakeshwar Police Station shall take steps in accordance with law and register a first information report. If the said respondent is of the opinion that registration of the FIR is not necessary, the reasons therefor which should be communicated to the petitioner within a period of

two weeks from the date of receipt of the server copy of this order.

Affidavit of service filed in court today is taken on record.

It has been submitted by the learned Advocate for the petitioner that the private respondent has been duly served.

In spite of notice none appears for the private respondent.

With the above observation and direction this writ petition stands disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the learned advocates for the parties on usual formalities.
