By the impugned order dated October 3, 2018, a Single Bench of this Court had directed the appellant to pay a sum of Rs. 67,588/- being 50% of the charges assessed against the appellant, inter alia, for theft of electricity. The appellant is stated to have paid such 50% but has not paid the balance amount as directed by the Single Bench.

The supply of the electricity to the petitioner was initially restored upon payment of 50% of charges, but subsequently disconnected for nonpayment of balance dues. 3.
This Court notices that the appellant has not availed the installments concession granted by the Single Bench despite the allegation of theft of electricity against him.
This Court finds absolutely no infirmity in the order in question.

The statutory appeal against the order of final assessment is pending. It is directed that the same is disposed of expeditiously, preferably within 6 months from date.

Hence, MAT 1329 of 2018 shall stand disposed of.

In view of the above, CAN 9003 of 2018 shall also stand disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
