PP Mr. Partha Pratim Das Ms. Manasi Roy ... for the State Learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits he is in custody for 76 days. He prays for bail on the ground of inordinate delay in trial.

Learned Counsel appearing for the State opposes prayer for bail.

From the report it appears that most of the witnesses have already been examined. Date has been fixed for examination of the investigating officer.

There are ample evidence connecting the petitioner in the murder of his wife. Trial has significantly progressed and examination of the investigating officer is fixed in November, 2022.

Under such circumstances, we are not inclined to grant to the petitioner at this stage.

The application for bail is, thus, rejected. Trial Court is requested to expedite the trial and conclude the same within three months from the next date fixed for recording of evidence without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
