Mr. Tirthankar Dey ...for the petitioner ssi Ct. 17 The petitioner is student of East Malda B.Ed College under the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University. He is pursing two years B.Ed course for the session 2023-25. The students were not allowed to take part in the First Semester Examination. He approached this Court for relief. By the time the writ petition was heard the examination was over.

The University, however, has published an urgent notice on 23rd July, 2024 mentioning that the candidates who are permitted to sit for the ongoing B.Ed First Semester Examination as per the order of the Hon'ble High Court, but, were unable to fill up the examination form and be present in the examination centre will fill up the offline examination form which will be sent to their college via mail and will be treated as enrolled candidates. Even though the students were found absent, they can sit for the forthcoming B.Ed examination and they will not lose one year. The same will be subject to the verification of the credentials and eligibility

of the candidates by the University within a month from the colleges furnishing all details and required documents to the University. If the candidate is found ineligible for verification, his/her candidature will be rejected.

By virtue of the aforesaid notice the students who were unable to take part in the B.Ed First Semester Examination will get another opportunity to sit in the examination.

Similar reliefs were earlier granted by this Court to others.

Therefore, the University is directed to take steps for conducting the examination at the earliest.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
