JUDGMENT

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by T.S. SIVAGNANAM, C.J.)

1. We have considered the submissions of the learned advocates for the parties.

2. We find that the learned Single Bench was right in refusing to grant relief sought for in the writ petition having seen the adverse report drawn by the Park Street Police Station. The appellant initially had a passport issued in Jalandhar, State of Punjab and the passport expired in 2016.

3. The appellant based on a rent agreement dated 1st March, 2022 has created certain records and has applied for a passport that to with the change of name/title. In any event, it is the authorities, who have to examine the veracity of the documents produced by the appellant and we find no ground to interfere with the adverse report drawn against the appellant.

4. Therefore, no ground has been made out to interfere with the order passed by the learned Single Bench.

5. Accordingly, appeal and the connected application (I.A. No. CAN 1 of 2024) stand dismissed.

6. Original report of the passport authority is taken on record.

7. No costs.

8. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties expeditiously upon compliance of all legal formalities. (T.S. SIVAGNANAM) CHIEF JUSTICE I agree.
