Smt Purnima Chakraborty & ORS v. Cesc Limited & ORS.
21.01.2026.
PB Sl. No.80.
Ct. No.32.
In the High Court at Calcutta Constitutional Writ Jurisdiction Appellate Side WPA 20336 of 2007 With CAN 1 of 2018 (Old CAN 2007 of 2018) Sri Provash Chakraborty (since deceased)/ Makhanlal Chakraborty Vs.
CESC Limited & Ors.
1.
The instant writ petition has been filed by the writ petitioner, inter alia, praying for a direction upon the respondents not to disconnect the electric supply of the writ petitioner, as he has not supplied electricity to any other consumer.
2.
None appears on behalf of the petitioner and no accommodation is prayed for.
3.
This case pertains to the year 2007. Despite the direction passed by the then Co-ordinate Bench, neither affidavit-in-opposition nor affidavit-in-reply thereto has yet been filed by the parties.
4.
Considering the nature of prayer and due to passage of time, it seems the writ petitioner is no longer interested in pursuing the instant case on twin grounds, firstly, the purpose of filing this writ petition has been resolved, and secondly, he may have abandoned his prayer.
5.
Accordingly, the writ petition being WPA 20336 of 2007 is dismissed.
6.
Connected applications, if any, are also, thus, disposed of.
7.
There shall, however, be no order as to costs. 8.
Interim order, if any, stands vacated.
9.
All parties shall act in terms of the copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
