1. None appears for the petitioners. The petitioners have alleged encroachment upon the National Highway. The petitioners have submitted a representation, which was received by the office of the Assistant Engineers, Kolkata, National Highways Sub-Division, P.W. (Roads), Directorate sometimes in August 2019.
2. In view thereof, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the Assistant Engineer, Kolkata National Highway Sub-Division, Government of West Bengal, P.W. (Roads), Directorate being the respondent no. 3 to take steps in accordance with the provisions of the relevant statute in case there has been any illegal/unauthorised encroachment upon the National Highway. It will be open to such authority to issue notice upon the 6th and 7th respondents as well as the petitioners at the time of inquiry.
3. The 3rd respondent is directed to complete the proceeding as expeditiously as possible but positively
within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order.
4. The petitioners are directed to communicate this order along with a copy of the representation, which was received by the office of the Assistant Engineers, Kolkata, National Highways Sub-Division, P.W. (Roads), Directorate being the 3rd respondent sometimes in August 2019.
5. With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of.
6. There shall be no order as to costs.
7. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties expeditiously upon compliance of all legal formalities.
