... Petitioner.
Mr. Ayan Basu, Mr. Sandip Kr. Mondal, Mr. Sumit Routh.
...for the Petitioner.
Mr. Neguive Ahamed, ld. A.P.P., Ms. Trina Mitra.
...for the State.
Petitioner renews his prayer for bail. He submits he is in custody for over 800 days.
Learned Advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits date has been fixed for consideration of charge on 22nd November, 2022.
We have considered the materials on record. Case involves trafficking of women to a different State. Date has been fixed for consideration of charge. Vulnerable witness is yet to be examined.
Under such circumstances, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.
We direct the trial court to consider the issue of framing of charge at the earliest preferably within two months from the next date fixed before it and in the event the charge is framed to take the proceeding to its logical conclusion without granting unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties.
