Mr. Partha Pratim Das Ms. Manasi Roy ...... for the State Petitioner is in custody for 5 years 9 months. He prays for bail on the ground of inordinate delay in trial. Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail. We have considered the materials on record. Statements of the witnesses recorded under Section 164 CRPC prima facie disclose involvement of the petitioner in the murder of his wife. In view of the aforesaid incriminating materials, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner on merits. However, keeping in mind the protracted period of detention suffered by the petitioner, we request the trial court to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties.
