The petitioners pray for a direction upon the respondent Nos. 5 and 6 to take a decision on the application made by the petitioners for performing Durga Puja.

The said application was submitted before the Chairman, New Town Kolkata Development Authority on 1st September, 2022. The same is yet to be disposed of.

As the New Town Kolkata Development Authority is not represented before this Court, the matter cannot be decided conclusively.

Accordingly, the present writ petition is disposed of by directing the Chairman, New Town Kolkata Development Authority to take a decision with regard to

the application made by the petitioners for grant of permission for holding the Durga Puja.

A decision shall be taken by 30th September, 2022 and communicated to the petitioners.

An opportunity of hearing be given to the petitioners and other necessary parties to place relevant materials and/or documents before the aforesaid authority for taking a decision on the issue. The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
