Mr. Indranil Halder ...for the Petitioner Mr. Debanjan Mukherjee ...for CESC Mr. Nilotpal Chatterjee ...for the State 08-05-2025 AKG Ct. 15 The petitioner seeks a commercial electricity connection for his shop-room from Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited (CESC).

The petitioner contends that, due to resistance from Respondent No. 4, CESC officials have been unable to effect the electricity connection. Respondent No. 4 appears to be another tenant in the same premises.

The learned advocate for CESC submits that CESC has, in principle, agreed to provide the electricity connection from the existing meter board.

In light of this, there is no need to keep this writ petition pending. Accordingly, I direct CESC to provide the electricity connection to the petitioner's shop-room from the existing meter board within three weeks from the date of this order.

The Officer-in-Charge of Ekbalpore Police Station, Kolkata - 700 023, is directed to provide necessary assistance to CESC officials in implementing this order.

The police are authorized to break open the padlock of the meter room, if required. The cost of police assistance shall be borne by the petitioner.

Accordingly, WPA 23078 of 2024 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
