Two applications for anticipatory bail are taken up for analogous consideration as the de facto complainant in the two police cases and the petitioner are same.

The de facto complainant is the wife of the petitioner. She approached two different police stations with regard to the similar complaint.

The police case being Kharagpur (Town) P.S. Case No. 518 of 2022 dated September 4, 2022 was registered pursuant to an order passed under Section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The police case being Kharagpur All Women P.S. Case No. 72 of 2022 dated August 7, 2022 was registered on the basis of the complaint lodged by the de facto complainant. In the case diary relating to P.S. Case No. 518 of 2022 dated September 4, 2022, we find materials implicating the petitioner.

Apparently, the petitioner attempted to strangulate the de facto complainant. There are statements of the neighbours also implicating the petitioner.

In such circumstances, considering the gravity of the offence and the involvement of the petitioner therein, we are unable to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. Needless to say that this order will not prevent the jurisdictional Court in dealing with the two police cases appropriately.

Prayer for anticipatory bail of the petitioner is rejected. CRM (A) 4840 of 2022 and CRM (A) 4841 of 2022 are dismissed.
