1. Mr. Syamal Kumar Das, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that this PIL may be disposed of by allowing the petitioners to file a comprehensive representation with relevant documents before the respondent no.2 and in turn, the respondent no.2 may be directed to decide it within a reasonable time.

2. Learned Additional Solicitor General has no objection to this innocuous prayer.

3. At this stage, Mr. Indrajeet Dasgupta, learned counsel for the respondent nos.4 and (Cantonment Board, Barrackpore) submits that the State can hand over the jetty for the operation to the Cantonment Board and the Cantonment Board can run the same.

4. Accordingly, this PIL is disposed of with the following directions:

(i) The petitioner may file a comprehensive representation for his grievance along with

relevant document and a copy of this order before the respondent no.2.

(ii) The respondent no.2 shall consider and decide the said representation in accordance with law within days therefrom.

(iii) If the respondent no.2 himself is not competent to decide the said representation, he shall forward it to the competent authority for taking decision.

5. With the aforesaid and without expressing any opinion on merits, the PIL is disposed of.

6. In the meantime, the State Government is directed to examine whether the existing jetty which is being used is safe for the use or not and in the event any repair is required, needful be done forthwith.
