The petitioner alleges that the Officer-inCharge, Maidan Police Station and Hare Street Police Station have not taken any steps pursuant to the complaint lodged by the petitioner. It appears from the record that complaint lodged by the petitioner to the Officer-in-Charge, Maidan Police Station on 10th of May, 2024 has been annexed at page 15 of the writ petition.

The learned advocate appearing for the State files a report of the Officer-in-Charge, Hare Street Police Station dated 25th September, 2024, which is taken on record. It has been stated in the said report that the place of occurrence was verified and as it was found that the place of occurrence falls under the jurisdiction of Maidan Police Station. The respondent No.4, i.e. the Officer-in-Charge, Maidan Police Station

is directed to take steps in accordance with law on the basis of the complaint lodged by the petitioner on 10th of May, 2024, which is appearing at page 15 of the writ petition.

The Officer-in-Charge, Maidan Police Station is directed to consider the said complaint and to take steps in accordance with law including registration of FIR, if the complaint discloses a cognizable offence. If the police authorities decide against registration of FIR, the reasons therefor are to be communicated to the petitioner within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the server copy of this order along with a copy of the complaint dated 10th May, 2024. The Officer-in-charge, Hare Street Police Station is directed to forward the complaint to the Maidan Police Station in respect of the incident that took place on 2nd of September, 2024.

With the above observations and directions the writ petition stands disposed of.

However, there will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible.
