Heard learned counsels for the parties.

The petitioners are aggrieved by the fact that when the 1st petitioner approached the office of the Block Land & Land Reforms Officer, Sonarpur Community Development Block on 21st August, 2025 for mutating the name of one Karna Mondal in respect of a land purchased by him, as his constituted attorney, some persons obstructed him and insisted on bribe for completion of the work. On protest raised by the 1st petitioner, he was brutally assaulted. When the 3rd petitioner tried to rescue him, he was also assaulted.

The petitioners have lodged complaint before the police authority and have alleged that the complaint was not acted upon.

It appears from the report submitted by the State that a specific case has been lodged pursuant to the said complaint and in addition, the police has submitted a prosecution under Section 126/135(3) of the BNSS. The police is keeping sharp vigil to prevent any untoward incident in the area.

In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of directing the police authority to investigate the complaint lodged by the petitioners and take the same to its logical conclusion in accordance with law. The police authority shall continue to keep strict vigil in the area in order to maintain peace and tranquility.

The police shall also render necessary assistance to the 1st petitioner so that he is able to do the work of mutation as contemplated at the office of the Block Land & Land Reforms Officer.

There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
