The petitioner seeks police protection for entering into his house.

It appears that the petitioner is a history-sheeter and habitual offender. There are six FIRs of grievous hurt registered against the petitioner being investigated by the Narkeldanga Police Station and Beniapukur Police Station.

The petitioner has been able to obtain bail in some cases and accomplice of the petitioner in the FIRs is absconding.

The petitioner is stated to have severely assaulted the victim with chopper and other sharp weapons. The local residents are against a dangerous person like the petitioner residing in their vicinity.

The police have, however, never objected to the petitioner returning to his house.

In the above circumstances, this Court is not inclined to interfere in the extraordinary jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. The

petitioner may seek remedies inter alia of bail as may be available in the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
