Mr. Indranil Halder ..for the petitioner Mr. Suman Ghosh Mr. Debanjan Mukherjee ..for CESC Limited The petitioner seeks a separate electricity service connection for his shop room located at premises no. 822/1, Ghosh Para Road, Kantadhar, Opposite 4 Tala, Ichapur, P.S. Noapara, District - North 24 Parganas.

A report has been filed by the Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited, indicating that an inspection was conducted at the said premises. It appears from the report that the premises in question is an old two-storied building that has been recently renovated and partitioned among four brothers, with each portion having common walls and lacking structural separation. The report further reveals that there exists one common overhead service connection with eight meters already installed at the premises, catering to the entire building.

It is also noted that CESC Limited is agreeable to sanction a new loop meter in favour of the

petitioner from the existing service connection, rather than providing a separate new service connection. In light of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon CESC Limited to install a new loop meter in favour of the petitioner from the existing meter board within a period of three weeks from the date of this order.

The Officer-in-Charge of Noapara Police Station is directed to render necessary assistance to the officials of CESC Limited for implementation of this order. The cost of such police assistance shall be borne by the petitioner.

The petitioner shall also comply with all additional formalities, if any, as may be required by CESC Limited.

Accordingly, WPA 23639 of 2024 is disposed of.
