The petitioner is in custody for two years four months. He says that only 4 out of 9 charge sheet named witnesses have been examined. He prays for bail. We see that 1.2 litres of Codeine Mixture, i.e., much beyond commercial quantity, was allegedly recovered from this petitioner. In view of the restriction in Section 37 of the NDPS Act, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. The application for bail being CRM (NDPS) 1525 of 2024 is, thus, dismissed.

However, keeping in mind the long detention of the petitioner, we direct the learned trial Court to conclude the trial on an early date and positively within four months from the date of communication of this order by the parties and the Registry of this Court to the learned trial Court, if necessary, Signed By :

by preponing the next date fixed and by fixing frequent schedules of 2/3 days or more. No unnecessary adjournment shall be granted to either of the parties.

In the event the trial is not concluded within the time period indicated herein, the petitioner will be at liberty to renew his prayer for bail.

All parties shall act on the server copies of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. Criminal Section is directed to supply certified copies of this order to the parties, if applied for, upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
