The petitioner's son went missing at the age of 24 years in the year 2019. Continuous and repeated efforts were made by the State police and the CID, West Bengal to trace out the missing son of the petitioner. The petitioner has also filed proceedings seeking writ of habeas corpus. The results of further investigation have not been very fruitful.

It is also evident from the records and the submissions of the State that the Interpol has also been contacted by the CID, West Bengal. All possible efforts, including publishing of the missing boy's picture in the media, have been made at the instance of the State police.

In that view of the matter, this Court is of the view that the matter may now be entrusted to the CBI.

The CBI may take up efforts from their own end to trace out the missing boy.

The CID, West Bengal and the State police shall transfer all materials and evidence in connection with the FIR to the CBI.

This Court has found that the State police machinery has taken all possible steps and has put in serious efforts to trace out the missing boy. With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
