The contempt application is filed alleging inaction on the part of the Pradhan of No. 14 Dudhkomara Gram Panchayat, District-Paschim Medinipur, the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer, Daspur-II Block and the Officer-inCharge, Daspur Police Station. The Court had directed the Pradhan to take certain steps in accordance with law. Liberty was given to seek assistance of the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer as also the police authorities. Thus, according to this Court, impleading the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer, Daspur-II Block and the Officer-in-Charge, Daspur Police Station as contemnors was not in accordance with law. The proceedings, could at best be initiated against the Pradhan.

The order of the Court was complied with by the Pradhan and a decision was taken by the gram panchayat as directed. The matter has already been referred to the SubDivisional Officer, Ghatal. According to the Court, the order of this Court has been complied with. The Sub-Divisional Officer is not a contemnor. No directions were issued by the Court on the Sub-Divisional Officer.

As such, the contempt application, as it stands today, is disposed of without any orders. The contempt proceedings are dropped.

This order shall not preclude the petitioner from taking steps in accordance with law.
