Mr. Nirupam Dhali ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than four years and two months and only four witnesses in part have been examined.

According to the learned advocate, there is no possibility of the trial concluding in the near future, as such, on any stringent condition, the petitioner may be released on bail.

Learned advocate for the State has produced the Case Diary along with list of dates which reflect the delay in the trial was because of the petitioner.

It is also contended that at the heart of the city of Calcutta, the offence was committed and the petitioner was

thickly connected with the offence as it has been surfaced in course of the investigation.

I have taken into account the role of the present petitioner; the manner in which the case has been delayed and, on an assessment of the same, I am of the view that this is not a fit case to enlarge the petitioner on bail, at this stage.

Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

Accordingly, CRM(M) 1887 of 2025 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
