Petitioner is in custody for more than five years. He prays for bail.

Learned Advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail.

We have considered the materials on record. Delay in the matter was due to the indolent conduct of the accused persons. In this backdrop, bail prayer of co-accuseds was turned down by this Court.

Under such circumstances, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

We take note of the protracted detention suffered by the petitioner.

Hence, we direct the trial court to conclude the trial at an early date preferably within six months from the next date fixed

for recording evidence without granting any unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties.
