The petitioner appearing in person submits that he is a tenant under the 5th respondent in respect of the property in question and has been paying the rents regularly. He has no dispute with the 5th respondent. The 6th respondent has been trying to extort huge amount of money from him over telephone as well as physically and threatening him with dire consequences on his refusal to pay the same. The complaint lodged in this regard before the police authority has not been acted upon. The local police authority refused to accept his complaint for which he had to send the complaint to the Sub-

Divisional Officer, Bankura and Superintendent of Police, Bankura.

Learned counsel for the State submits that pursuant to the complaint lodged by the petitioner, the police has held enquiry and initiated prosecution under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of directing the police authority to keep strict vigil in the area in order to avoid any untoward incident and to maintain law and order. The police shall render necessary assistance / protection to the petitioner in the event the petitioner requests the same before them.

There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
