The petitioner is alleging police inaction in investigating the case. Although the accused received a gunshot injury, Section 307 of the Penal Code was not inserted in the FIR. The name of the accused has not transpired as yet. It appears from the CCTV footage that there is sufficient material to identify the offending scooty and/or its owner.

Learned advocate for the State relies on the report and submits as follows. A prayer was already been made for addition of Section 307 of the Penal Code and the same was allowed by the learned trial court. CCTV footages have been circulated in the neighbourhood to identify the miscreants and the relevant phones were placed for CDR analysis. Raids have been held at different places to arrest the miscreants.

It appears that the police are making effort to investigate the case and arrest the culprits. Let the investigation of the case be concluded expeditiously and in accordance with law under the direct supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Serampore, Hooghly.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

Urgent certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
