1. By way of public interest litigation the petitioners allege that the private respondents, namely, respondent nos.11 to 14 have illegally converted doba land and put up construction.

2. In this regard, representations were given and the matter was referred to the Chairman of the Arambagh Municipality by the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer, Arambagh, Hooghly on 24.05.2022. Further, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Arambagh has also addressed the SDL & LRO, Arambagh, Hooghly and the Executive Officer of the Arambagh Municipality to look into the grievance by proceedings dated 10.08.2023.

The learned advocate appearing for the private respondents submitted that the writ petition is not a genuine public interest litigation as the petitioners are the members of a club and it is alleged that the petitioners demanded certain sums of money from the private respondents who are the renowned doctors and the private respondents refused to yield to such demands, for such reason this public interest litigation has been filed. It is further submitted that the land in question was purchased in the year 2007 by the private respondents and as on the said date the land has been classified as "Bastu" and to the said effect, the concerned revenue record was placed before this court.

4. Thus, we find no direction can be issued as sought for in the writ petition.

5. With the above observation, the writ petition stands dismissed.
