Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that petitioner is in custody for 2 years and 4 months and till date only 2 witnesses have been examined. Earlier there was a direction by the Division Bench to expedite the process of trial but the same did not yield any result.

Learned advocate for the State has addressed the Court more on the seriousness of the offence. Be that as it may, if the offence is serious, the same is not restricted in a bail application but must also be extended before the learned Trial Court. 11 more witnesses are proposed to be examined by the prosecution.

Accordingly, I direct the State to take appropriate steps before the learned Trial Court. At least, 6 more witnesses are to be examined by 15th May, 2026. If there is no progress pursuant to this direction, petitioner would be at liberty to approach this Court. At this stage, CRM(M) 2037 of 2025 is dismissed. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
