1. The petitioner seeks issuance of a Writ of SL-3 09.10.

Ct. No.06 Ab Mandamus upon the respondents-University Authorities commanding them to allow the petitioner to sit in the Entrance Test, namely, CULET-UG (Calcutta University Law Entrance Test) for admission in the B.A.LL.B course under the University of Calcutta for the Academic Session 2025-2026.

Mr. Lahiri, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner has been prevented from depositing the amount required for the purpose of appearing in the Entrance Test and for choosing the institution wherefrom the petitioner is desirous of studying the LL.B. course on the ground that the petitioner has not been able to generate his APAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry). It is further submitted that the petitioner could not generate APAR ID since the petitioner's mobile number was/is not linked with the petitioner's Aadhar Card.

3. Mr. Chatterjee, learned Advocate appearing for the respondent-University Authorities, fairly submits

that since the issue involves one academic year and consequently the life of a student, the petitioner may be permitted to appear in the Entrance Test upon depositing the requisite fees. He submits that such order should not be permitted to be treated as a precedent.

4. The fair stand taken by Mr. Chatterjee is appreciated.

5. WPA 23924 of 2025 stands disposed of by directing the respondent no. 4 i.e. Secretary, Faculty Council for the P.G. Studies in Law (Additional Charge), Department of Law, University of Calcutta, to permit the petitioner to sit in the Entrance Test, namely, CULET-UG for admission in the B.A.LL.B. course under the University of Calcutta for the Academic Session 2025-2026 without insisting for generation of AAPAR ID, upon payment of the requisite fees.

6. It is clarified that this order is being passed in the peculiar facts and circumstances of the case in view of the fair stand taken by Mr. Chatterjee and the same shall not be treated as precedent.

7. There shall, however, be no order as to costs.
