To that extent, several representations were made to the authorities concerned.

However, the police authorities, particularly, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Reserve Force (Arms Act Department) earlier rejected the prayer for extension of the area validity.

The reasons which have been assigned by the authorities are that the petitioner failed to substantiate sufficient grounds for consideration of the prayer for

extension of the area concerned.

A report has been submitted by the learned advocate for the State. Let the same be kept with the record.

Mr. Dasgupta, learned advocate for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner has to go to different places including Jharkhand where he requires arms to be carried and, to that effect, a representation has been furnished.

However, I find from the representation that, lastly, the same was submitted in June, 2022.

As, almost two and half years have passed since then, the petitioner is granted liberty to file a fresh representation assigning reasons for extension of the area validity of the license so granted.

The concerned authorities would dispose of such application within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt

of such representation and grant liberty of hearing as well as a written representation to be submitted at the time of consideration of the issues relating to extension of the area validity of the arms license of the petitioner.

With the aforesaid observations, WPA 24198 of 2022 is disposed of.

Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of.

Report so submitted be kept with the record. A copy of the report be handed over to the learned advocate for the petitioner.
