The petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that a dengue awareness procession, proposed by them from Rashbehari More to Desher Khabar More, Chetla has been declined by the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. Learned counsel for the State submits that there were two other applications for processions of two other rival political parties, who have made applications, one of which has been allowed to be held on the same day. The proposed route of the petitioner is on the same route and day as that of the other political party. There is, therefore, likelihood of a serious law and order problem.

The matter was adjourned for some time in the day to enable the parties to come up with an alternative proposal for procession.

The petitioner has fairly agreed to hold the procession on Monday i.e. 14th November 2022 at 2 p.m. from New Alipore to Chetla Park.

The State has no objection to such procession.

The petitioner undertakes before this Court to hold a peaceful awareness procession.

Appropriate arrangements and security shall be made by the police to facilitate the same. With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
