PP Ms. Monisha Sharma ..for the State This is an application wherein the petitioner has prayed for expeditious disposal of the Sessions Case no. 77 of 2017 arising out of G.R. case no. 176 of 2016, presently pending before the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge, Bolpur, Birbhum. It has been contended by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the matter is pending since 2016 and a direction is required to be passed upon the court below so that the trial may be expedited.

Since the prayer made by the petitioner is innocuous, the service of copy of the application upon the private opposite party is dispensed with.

Learned counsel for the State submits that out of 19 chargesheeted witnesses, the prosecution has already examined 7 witnesses and the rest witnesses will be examined shortly. Having heard learned counsel appearing on behalf of both the parties, I find that the prayer made by the petitioner is justified and is required to be allowed for the ends of justice. Accordingly, CRR 4094 of 2022 is hereby disposed of with a direction upon the court below to make every endeavour for

disposal of the Sessions case no. 77 of 2017 at the earliest without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties and to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six months from the next date i.e. on 3rd June, 2025.

Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, duly applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
