Supplementary affidavit filed by the petitioner is taken on record.

Heard the petitioner in person and the respondents. The petitioner appearing in person submits that pursuant to the an order passed in WPA 28142 of 2023 on 19th April, 2022 by an Hon'ble Division Bench presided over by the Hon'ble the Chief Justice, High Court, Calcutta, the petitioner was provided two security personnel for his protection. Subsequently one of them was withdrawn by the police. The petitioner seeks posting of another security personnel for his round the clock protection in terms of the order of the Hon'ble the Chief Justice.

Drawing the attention of the Court to the affidavit in opposition filed by the State, learned counsel for the State submits that several security personnel were deputed to protect the petitioner and on their applications alleging misbehaviour and other issues, the security personnel were changed from time to time.

It appears from the order dated 19th April, 2022 that the State authorities were directed to extend adequate protection to the petitioner. In terms thereof, the security personnel were deployed to protect the petitioner. The order does not speak about round the clock protection or deployment of security personnel for the petitioner. Since the petitioner submits that one security personnel is deployed for him in terms of the said order, this Court is of the view that no further order can be passed by this Court in this regard since the matter has been dealt with by the Hon'ble Division Bench presided over by the Hon'ble the Chief Justice, High Court, Calcutta. However, the police authority is directed to keep strict vigil over the area in order to avoid any untoward incident and to maintain peace and tranquility.

With the aforesaid direction, the writ petition is disposed of.

There shall however, be no order as to costs. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
