Despite service, none appears for the Bar Council of West Bengal or the other respondents at the time of call.

The petitioner's grievance is that the petitioner obtained a valid LLB degree and thereafter applied for enrolment as an Advocate with the respondent no.1, that is, the Bar Council of West Bengal. However, the application was refused to be accepted on the ground that the petitioner ought to go to Haryana where he obtained his degree.

It is well-settled that a person obtaining enrolment in any part of India is also entitled to practise law in any other part of the country. 4.

Accordingly, WPA No. 24203 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the respondent no.1 to accept the petitioner's application for enrolment as an Advocate and to process the same expeditiously,

preferably within a fortnight from the date of communication of this order to the respondent no.1.

Needless to say, it will be open to the respondent no.1 to ascertain whether the petitioner is otherwise eligible for being enrolled as an Advocate while doing so.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
