It appears from the report that pursuant to the direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata has constituted a permanent Special Investigating Team (SIT) vide Commissioner's order dated 15th January, 2026 to deal with suspicious/fake motor accident claim cases under the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Police.

Henceforth, all insurance companies would approach the office of the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata in writing to review their allegations with regard to the suspicious/fake motor accident claim cases. In view of the above, this Court is inclined to hold that the grievance of the petitioner has been redressed. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

Since no affidavit has been invited, allegations contained in the writ petition shall be deemed not to have been admitted.

Urgent certified website copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on compliance of requisite formalities.
