Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.

By the present writ petition the petitioner seeks for interest on arrear pension for the period from 1st June, 2008 to 20th February, 2024.

The petitioner contends that he was appointed as Assistant Teacher in Primary School on 5th December, 1974. Upon deposit of the employer's share in Contributory Provident Fund, the Pension Payment Order was issued on 8th July, 2015 with effect from 12th September, 2014 i.e. the date of refund of employer's share in Contributory Provident Fund. Revised PPO was issued on 5th February, 2024 given effect of pension from 1st June, 2008. The arrear pension for the period 1st June, 2008 to 12th September, 2014 has been credited to the account of
the petitioner only on 20th February, 2024. The petitioner seeks for interest on the arrear amount of Rs.8,19,011/- from 1st June, 2008 to 20th February, 2024.

Mr. Bharat Chandra Simai, learned Advocate seeks for appropriate direction upon respondent authority for disbursement of interest on the arrear pension. 5.
Mr. Wasim Ahmed, learned advocate for the State leaves the matter to the discretion of the court. 6.
Admittedly, the arrear pension from 1st June, 2008 till 12th September, 2014 has been credited to the account of the petitioner on 20th February, 2024 as is appearing from P-4 at page 13 of the writ petition. However, no interest for such delayed payment has been made. Thus, the petitioner is entitled to interest on the arrear pension from 1st June, 2008 i.e. the date of retirement till the date of disbursement i.e. 20th February, 2024. 7.
Accordingly, the respondent no.2, the Director of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance, Government of West Bengal and the respondent no.5, the Treasury Officer, Egra, Purba Medinipur are directed to disburse the interest on the arrear pension in favour of the petitioner from 1st June, 2008 till 20th February, 2024 at the rate of 8% per annum within a period of two months from the date of communication of this order.

Learned advocate for the petitioner is directed to communicate this order to the respondent no.2 and the respondent no.5.

With the above direction, the writ petition being WPA 24935 of 2025 stands disposed of.
10. Since no affidavits have been called for, the allegation made in the writ petition is deemed to be not admitted.
11. Interim order, if any, stands vacated.
12. All connected applications, if any, stand disposed of.
13. There shall be no order as to costs.
14. All concerned parties shall act in terms of the copy of the order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
15. Urgent Photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on compliance of all necessary legal formalities.
