It is quite surprising that all students of Bangabasi College (Day) could score only one mark, (except the petitioner no.2, who scored three marks) in the Tutorial Examination of Indian Ontology and

Epistemology course, Semester - VI (Honours) Examination, 2023. Due to such poor score, all the students have failed in the semester examination. It appears that both the petitioners have fared quite well in all other subjects of the said semester. The petitioners submit that before declaration of their 6th semester result, both of them had secured admission at Jadavpur University for Master Degree in Sanskrit but because of their failure to clear the 6th semester examination, the admission may be cancelled.

Prima facie, this Court is of the view that there is scope for re-evaluation of the marks obtained in aforesaid examination by the students of that particular batch.

The college is not represented.

In that view of the matter, there shall be an interim order directing Jadavpur University to extend the last date of submission of 6th semester examination results for a period of two months from date insofar as the petitioners are concerned." Today it has been submitted by the College that there were some errors in communicating the marks obtained by the students.

The college has already written a letter dated September 18, 2023 to the Controller of Examination communicating the actual marks obtained by the students.

In the said letter, the rectified marks of the relevant students have been stated as follows:- Folio No. 3148 Sl.

Let such exercise be completed within a period of four weeks from date. Jadavpur University shall extend the last date of submission of 6th Semester result of the petitioners for a further period of three months.

WPA 24419 of 2023 is disposed of.
