Ms. Sagnika Banerjee Mr. Soumya Raha ...for the petitioner Mr. Sandip Chakraborty Mr. Debarshi Brahma ..for the State Learned senior counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The victim was a widow. She had an illicit affair. This led to a 'salishi' in the village. Two days later, she committed suicide. After such incident, the mother lodged the FIR. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State vehemently opposes the prayer for anticipatory bail. He refers to the statements of neighbours recorded before the learned Magistrate. On a particular day, the petitioner and others had abused and assaulted the victim over such issue. The very next day, the victim committed suicide. Considering the incriminating materials available in the case diary, I do not consider this is to be a fit case for granting anticipatory bail.

Accordingly, the application for anticipatory bail of the petitioner is rejected.
