Case of the petitioner is that she sought some information about her husband from the Bank of India on June 28, 2024 (Annexure P6, p.39), but the information has been supplied only in November 2024. According to her, the reply has been supplied belatedly.

Reply under the Right to Information Act, 2005 supplied by the Central Public Information Officer to the petitioner dated November 8, 2024 filed in Court be taken on record. It is submitted that a copy of the same has already been served upon the petitioner.

The petitioner seeks compensation for delay in providing the information.

Learned advocate for the private respondent, however, objects to the act of the bank in supplying the information to the petitioner.

It appears that a matrimonial dispute is pending
between the petitioner and the private respondents. For the purpose of ascertaining the amount of maintenance which the petitioner may be entitled from her estranged husband, the details of the salary of the husband are required. 6.
The information has been supplied belatedly. The Information Officer of the bank ought to have taken steps to furnish the required information within the prescribed time period under the 2005 Act and ought not to have delayed in doing so. The said officer shall remain very cautious in future and adhere to the prescribed time limit for providing information, if sought.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
