Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the husband of the respondent no.7. The private respondent had been torturing the petitioner and her other family members. Finally, a divorce is being contemplated between the two. However, the private respondent is demanding rupees one crore, which is beyond the capacity of the petitioner. The private respondent is politically influential. It is feared that the petitioner and his family members could be arrested in connection with some cases. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State relies on the report and submits as follows. There is a family dispute brewing between the petitioner and the respondent no.7. On the complaint of the petitioner, a GD Entry was lodged. The dispute is purely civil and matrimonial in nature.

As of now, no criminal case has been started by any of the private parties. It appears that there is a matrimonial dispute pending between the petitioner and the private respondent. However, admittedly, no criminal case has been started by either of the sides.

for investigating or preventing arrest. In any such cases, no such blanket protection can be given to anyone, especially when no criminal case exists.

Therefore, no further order need be passed in this regard.

However, the police authorities shall keep a sharp vigil at the locale and ensure that no breach of peace takes place. With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
