He submits that this is not a case of homicide. He prays for bail. Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits victim housewife was tortured over demand of dowry and committed suicide. Petitioner is involved in a similar case of dowry death relating to his first wife. He had threatened witness in the said case.
We have considered the materials on record. Statements of witnesses show petitioner had demanded money for his business and tortured the housewife on such score. As a result she committed suicide within ten months of marriage. Petitioner has criminal antecedents. He has been implicated on similar allegations with regard to death of his first wife.
In view of the aforesaid materials, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.
Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected. Charges be framed at the earliest.
