1. In this public interest writ petition the petitioner alleges that several buses are plying in the area in question, namely, Garia Station road without permit and much of the road area is used as a parking lot affecting the free movement of the public including the school students.

2. In this regard, representations have been given to the authorities. Since the same did not effect any response, the present writ petition has been filed. If the allegation made by the petitioner is correct, namely, if the buses are plying without permit, action has to be initiated.

3. Therefore, without going into the merits of the allegations made, we direct the 3rd respondent, namely, the District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas to nominate a few officers under his command and to conduct surprise check of the vehicles operating the area and

ascertain as to whether any of the vehicles are operating without valid permit or in violation of the permit condition. If any of the vehicles are operating without permit or violating the permit condition, appropriate action be taken in accordance with law.

4. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of.
