Mr. Kamalesh Chandra Saha, learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that, the petitioners had applied before the jurisdictional Collector for the conversion but the Collector has not yet disposed of the said application.

Mr. Soumitra Bandyopadhyay, learned State counsel appearing for the respondents submits that, the exclusive jurisdiction to redress this grievance is now vested with the Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal.

Considering the provisions of the relevant law, this writ petition WPA 25492 of 2022 stands dismissed with liberty to the petitioner to file appropriate proceeding before the appropriate jurisdictional authority on the self-same cause of action, if the petitioner is permitted to do so. It is made clear that, this Court has not gone into the merits of the writ petition at all.

There shall be no order as to costs.
