Sarkar Ms. Sneha Bakshi ... for the Petitioner(s) Mr. Ranadeb Sengupta Ms. Afreen Begum ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for 279 days and the other accused persons, as per the instructions, have been granted bail. Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that the petitioner was absconding for a considerable period of time, as such, there has been delay in the case.

It has also been submitted that there are overt acts contributed by the present petitioner so far as the alleged offence is concerned.

Be that as it may, having regard to the factum of delay which was because of the accused person(s), I am not inclined to enlarge the present petitioner on bail. Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

However, I direct the State to take steps for commitment of the case to the court of Sessions. The petitioner is granted liberty for renewal his prayer for bail after such commitment is over. Accordingly, CRM(M) 2284 of 2025 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of.
