The petitioner and the private respondents are the co-sharers in a property, which comprises of ground and first floors. The petitioner is occupying the first floor of the said premises.

The complaint of the petitioner is that the private respondents are preventing supply of water to his premises.

The private respondents claim that the petitioner is obstructing the ingress and egress of the property in question.

The petitioner has complained to the Jadavpur Police Station and sought intervention of the police in the matter.

This Court is of the view that the disputes between the petitioner and the private respondents are purely civil in nature and civil proceedings may be taken out in accordance with law. The police have no role to play in the private civil dispute.

The Officer-in-charge, Jadavpur Police Station shall, however, ensure that there is absolutely no breach of peace in the area.

With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
