Petitioner has approached this court as he is aggrieved by the progress of the investigation in connection with Polba PS Case No. 217/2024 dated 01.08.2024. Petitioner submits that in a similarly placed matter the case was transferred to CID for investigation.

I have considered the submissions advanced by the petitioner.

Learned advocate for the State has submitted a report. However, considering the nature of investigation required and the time required for assessing the documents which are to be collected, cross-checked and an opinion to be arrived at, it would be very difficult for a police officer working in a regular police station to afford such amount of diligence. Further there are certain shortfalls in the infrastructure of a regular police station in respect of

investigation of such cases. Accordingly, I am of the view since Polba PS Case No. 308/2023 dated 09.12.2023 is investigated by the CID West Bengal, the present case being Polba PS Case No. 217/2024 dated 01.08.2024 be transferred to CID West Bengal.

The ADG, CID, West Bengal will engage the same officer who is carrying out the further investigation in connection with Polba PS Case No. 308/2023.

With the aforesaid observations WPA 26122 of 2024 is disposed of.

Report so submitted be kept with the record.
