The grievance of the petitioner is directed against police inaction. The writ petition was filed as far back as in 2018.

Mr. Amitesh Banerjee appears on behalf of the State respondents and submits that during the pendency of the writ petition, the police authorities have filed a charge sheet and have taken appropriate steps in accordance with law. Further details of the steps taken by the state police appear at page 11 (xxv) of the affidavit in opposition filed on behalf of the State.

This matter has been pending since 2018 and notwithstanding repeated orders it appears that the petitioner has been taking adjournments.

In view of the affidavit in opposition and also in view of the fact that a charge sheet have been filed, no

useful purpose would be served in keeping this writ petition pending.

Accordingly, WPA 24940 of 2018 stands disposed off.

The petitioner is granted liberty to take appropriate steps, if so available to him in accordance with law.
