1. We have heard the learned advocates for the parties.

2. On going through the prayers sought for in the writ petition, which is filed as a public interest litigation, we find what the petitioners actually seek for is to include a particular community as a Scheduled Tribe community in the State of West Bengal.

3. Such direction nor a direction to consider a representation to the said effect cannot be granted by this Court.

In respect of identification of any community as a Scheduled Tribe community or a Scheduled Caste community, a separate procedure has been provided for under the provisions of the West Bengal Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Identification) Act, 1994.

4. It will be well-open to the aggrieved persons to work out their remedies in terms of the provisions of the said Act.

5. With the above observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

6. No costs.

7. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties expeditiously upon compliance of all legal formalities.
