....Applicants/Petitioners Mr. Apalak Basu Ms. Ruchira Manna Ms. Sanghamitra Mridha ...for the petitioners Mr. Bitashok Banerjee Mrs. Debjani Sahu ..for the State Learned senior counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners submits as follows. The victim was a widow. She allegedly had an illicit affair. This led to a 'salishi' in the village. Two days later, she committed suicide. Following such incident, the mother lodged the FIR.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State vehemently opposes the prayer for anticipatory bail. He refers to the statements of neighbours recorded before the learned Magistrate. On a particular day, the petitioners and others abused and assaulted the victim over the said issue. On the very next day, the victim committed suicide. Considering the incriminating materials available in the case diary, I do not consider this is to be a fit case for granting anticipatory bail.

Accordingly, the application for anticipatory bail of the petitioners is rejected.
