The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) and others Mr. Sukumar Ghosh, Mrs. Moumita Ghosh .... for the petitioner Mr. Sumit Roy .... for the WBSEDCL

1. Learned counsel for the petitioner alleges that the electricity pole carrying about 33 kv has been taken near the petitioner's house, thereby causing extreme risk to the petitioner and his family.

2. A representation was given to the concerned Regional Manager as well as the District Engineer but to no effect.

3. Learned counsel appearing for the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) submits that if the line is of the voltage as alleged, in all probability, it would be a transmission line and not a distribution line.

4. Be that as it may, since a complaint has already been lodged to the Regional Manager of the WBSEDCL, it would only be appropriate if the Regional Manager/Divisional Engineer looks into the matter immediately.

5. Accordingly, WPA No. 24907 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 3, the Regional Manager,

Regional Office, Purba Medinipur, WBSEDCL to immediately look into the complaint of the petitioner as depicted in the representation annexed to the writ petition at page-14 thereof, personally or through the concerned District Engineer. Such compliant shall be disposed of upon giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and all concerned, as expeditiously as possible, positively within six weeks from date, and the outcome shall be intimated immediately thereafter to the petitioner.

6. There will be no order as to costs.

7. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
